Get Your Measurements Right the First Time

Before we start cooking up your custom copper centerpiece, let's make sure we nail the dimensions. Think of measuring as the prep work for your kitchen's main course—get it right, and everything else falls into place beautifully.

Our quick video tutorial walks you through the essential measurements you'll need, from cooktop width to ceiling height. We'll show you the sweet spots for both wall-mounted and island hoods, plus share some insider tips we've picked up over a decade of crafting kitchen masterpieces.

What you'll learn:

  • How to measure cooktop width and determine the ideal hood width
  • The "Goldilocks zone" for hood height (not too high, not too low, but just right)
  • Special considerations for island installations
  • Pro tips for measuring in tight spaces or unusual layouts

Ready to measure? Grab your tape measure and let's get cooking! And remember, if you have any questions along the way, our team is just a phone call away—we love talking shop about range hoods almost as much as we love crafting them.

Write down your measurements as you go. Trust us, your future self will thank you when it's time to place your order.

Keep It Gorgeous:

Care & Maintenance Made Simple

Your copper beauty is built to last generations, but like any kitchen star, it performs best with a little TLC. Don't worry—caring for your CopperHoods masterpiece is easier than keeping a sourdough starter alive. A few simple steps will keep your hood looking stunning and working flawlessly for years to come.

Regular Cleaning:

  • Microfiber type cloth with warm water.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives, and steel wool. Nothing acidic.

  • Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.

Grease & Grime: For tougher grime, a mild detergent like dawn dish soap can be added to the damp microfiber cloth.

Patina: Copper and Brass hoods have a protective clear coating to prevent any further patina from developing. Follow the cleaning recommendations above.

Daily Cleaning:

  • Wash with warm water and mild dish soap after each use.

  • Dry thoroughly to prevent water spots and mineral buildup.

Avoiding Damage:

  • Use a rubber mat or cutting board to protect the sink surface from scratches.

  • Avoid placing hot pots or pans directly on the copper.

Patina:

  • Copper sinks develop a patina over time. This is a natural process which enhances the sink's beauty.

  • If you prefer a brighter finish, you can use a copper cleaner to restore the shine.

  • Applying Renaissance wax regularly can help slow the patina process and protect your sink basin.

By following these care tips, you will enjoy the beauty of your CopperHoods range hood and sink for years to come.

Important Note

Always test any cleaning product in a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire surface. If you have a lacquered copper finish, avoid abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the lacquer.

Additional Tips

Consider using a copper polish to restore the shine to your copper sink basin. Regularly inspecting your copper items for any signs of damage will help you address issues promptly.
